Heritage Home Care
Respite care gives a family caregiver time away while a loved one receives non-medical help at home. Heritage works with families in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and across Maricopa County to plan support around the person's routine and the hours the family needs covered.
Respite Care
A family caregiver may need time for work, an appointment, travel, or sleep. Respite care fills that gap with help that fits the person at home. Depending on the assessment, a visit can include companionship, meal preparation, medication reminders, help with bathing or dressing, and support moving safely around the home.
Heritage caregivers do not replace skilled nursing or other clinical care. If your loved one needs medical treatment during your time away, include the licensed care team in the plan.
Planning your break
Start by telling Heritage when you need coverage and what your loved one usually needs during those hours. During a free in-home assessment, the team learns the routine and discusses a caregiver match, schedule, and communication plan. A one-time break or recurring support depends on care needs and caregiver availability; confirm the arrangement before making plans around it.
Bring the usual routine, tasks that need help, preferred activities, emergency contacts, and any instructions from the licensed medical team. Explain how you would like to receive updates while you are away.
Tell Heritage which dates and hours you need covered, including whether you are planning a regular break.
Walk through meals, personal care, mobility, reminders, and the habits your loved one wants to keep.
Review availability, the caregiver plan, cost, and contact details before the first visit.
Agree on updates and a backup contact, then adjust future visits as the family learns what works.
Planning the cost of care
Care needs and the schedule affect the cost. Our Scottsdale and Phoenix guide explains what to compare, which questions to ask, and how to prepare for a personalized estimate.

We had an excellent experience with Heritage Care and their team. From the very beginning, they were professional, compassionate, responsive, and genuinely caring. They treated My wife with dignity, patience, and kindness, and it was clear that her well-being was always their priority. My husband received great care with Heritage Home Care. He especially enjoyed his conversations with Judy and Phyllis. They both made him smile. Thank you Nate and Kelly for helping us through this challenge.
After my mother was hospitalized, we suddenly needed round-the-clock care at home, and Heritage Home Care was truly a godsend. My mom also has Alzheimer’s, which made the situation even more challenging, but the caregivers Heritage provided were incredible. They were patient, compassionate, dependable, and genuinely kind, even during very difficult moments. Having 24/7 support gave our family peace of mind when we needed it most, and I honestly don’t know how we would have managed without them. From the caregivers themselves to the office staff who helped coordinate everything, Heritage made an overwhelming situation feel manageable. I’m beyond grateful for the care they provided to my mother and to our family. I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking support for their loved one.
